All of the opinions on this book are my own. I am not trying to force a certain thought on people, just expressing how I feel about it.
This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
“This was his army, his army against his enemy, an enemy he needed to confront – nature.”
Synopsis (Goodreads): Out of seven billion people, one man has declared war on Mother Nature and plans to bring it to its knees.
Out of all the criminals in Los Angeles, he’s the number one target being hunted by the LAPD tonight.
And out of the entire LAPD, one officer is hell-bent on helping him complete his mission.
Since it is a short story, I expect to get enough information to know what is going on and who we are dealing with. I sometimes had trouble understanding the story and had moments where I missed a nice transition between two characters and confused one character for the other. The sudden use of different names for characters, Silas/Lt. Hazzard, was really confusing and not introduced in a clear way. On the other hand, the use of only three characters was clever and made it easier to focus on the whole story.
When I started, the story sounded a bit vague for me. There was a lot going on. I noticed that there was some kind of chase happening. Things became clearer when the target entered a warehouse. From there things started to fall into place. The moment when the target was revealed was surprising and explained why the whole operation would be performed by all those people involved. On the other side I think that it’s ridiculous to organize such an operation to catch the target, even in the target’s case.
Sergeant Schaefer is one of the three characters in the story. He is a very driven man and it’s shown that he cares about the target. At the end it is a little bit explained why when the target’s name is revealed. Still I wouldn’t be so caring if the target has done what he did.
There was one question/mystery that was left when I finished the story. Why a war against Mother Nature? I’m wondering what the target has against Mother Nature and why he has it and would like to know the whole story. I expected that I would get to know more about that since that’s what the story is about. This short story has great potential to be made into a book. There is enough to tell about before and after the short story took place.
I gave this book 3/5 stars.
Have fun reading!
